Terms of Service

Last updated: 9 March 2026

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using RepShield (“the Service”), you (“you”, “user”) agree to these Terms of Service. The Service is operated by Daan Brummans, based in the Netherlands (“we”, “us”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What RepShield does

RepShield is a privacy-protection service. We:

  • Scan publicly available data broker databases to identify where your personal information is listed.
  • Search breach databases to identify data leaks containing your email address.
  • Send GDPR Article 17 (right to erasure) and CCPA deletion requests to data brokers on your behalf.

We act as your agent in sending deletion requests. We do not guarantee that brokers will comply, though they are legally required to do so under applicable law. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using RepShield, you confirm that the personal data you provide belongs to you (or you have explicit authorisation from the person whose data it is, e.g. a family plan member).

4. Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You must notify us immediately at support@repshield.app if you suspect unauthorised access. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorised account use.

5. Subscriptions and payment

  • Free tier: you may run one scan and view your results at no cost.
  • Shield subscription: monthly or annual subscription required to send removal requests and access monitoring. Pricing is displayed on the website and at checkout.
  • Billing: subscriptions are billed in advance via Stripe. You authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
  • Cancellation: you may cancel at any time from your account settings. You retain access until the end of the paid billing period. No refunds are issued for partial periods, except where required by law.
  • Price changes: we will notify you at least 30 days before any price increase. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to look up or remove data belonging to another person without their explicit consent.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the API.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Provide false profile information to manipulate scan results.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no warranty that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
  • Scan results are complete or accurate — broker databases change constantly.
  • All deletion requests will be honoured by brokers — compliance is the broker's legal obligation, not ours.

We disclaim all implied warranties to the extent permitted by law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch and EU law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages (including data loss, loss of profit, or reputational damage).

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Dutch law.

9. Intellectual property

All content, design, and code of the Service is owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works without our written permission. You grant us a limited licence to use the personal data you provide solely to perform the Service.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days (except billing records retained for legal compliance).

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
